The preliminary programme of the Festival 2008 This year's programme is centred around 5 categories. There also will be programmes that, despite belonging to none of these categories, are going to provide a great amusement. The detailed programme of the festival is the topic of current discussion between us and foreign programme management units and cultural organizations. We do not wish to advertise performances for which we have not yet signed a contract. Therefore the complete schedule of the festival is not yet available; however a brief preliminary programme will follow here. 1. International judo competition This programme is going to be organized as part of the festival. Location: The pagoda of the Egerági Üstökös Sportegyesület and a festival tent near it. There will be two arenas in the tent. The competition is going to be held in the pagoda and in the two arenas. The contest will start on Friday morning and will last until Sunday night. The announcement of the results and the award ceremony is going to take place on Sunday. 2. Craftsmen's fair, Botanic exhibition and fair The central location for this programme will be the park, the surroundings of the church and the memorial park. Craftsmen and botanists can place their booths in the park and in the surroundings of the church. Only products of high quality are welcome to the fair. 3. Presentations and exhibitions Presentations about Eastern culture, customs and slant of life are going to be held at the community centre. The lecturers will be Hungarian scientists, together with co-workers of the Asia Centre in Hungary. Exhibitions about Eastern landscapes, people and way of life are going to be on display for all the three days at the school, at the "Teleház" (Internet point) and at the building of the local government. In the open-air exhibition the traditional equipment, tools and horse-drawn machines of the Hungarian farmland can be seen. 4. Hussar camp A Hussar camp is going to be organized as part of the festival programme. In this camp Hussars of the region will show their special life for three days. The visitors can get acquainted with the weaponry, equipment, clothing and the history of the Hussars of 1848. In the evenings educational presentations and accounts of Hussars' personal experiences can be listened to, by the campfire. There going to be a delicious barbecue of pork and mutton to be tasted. Péter Csepin and his team will show the life of the valiant soldiers who used to live on the borders. Their presentations offer a unique experience. 5. Further art programmes Representatives of Eastern cultures are going to have performances on the open-air stage in the memorial park all the three days of our festival. The youngest visitors will also be provided with a varied programme. A wide range of entertainment facilities will be available as well. We have the pleasure to have as guests a singer from India, Turkish dervishes, drummers from Japan, several chefs and craftsmen. The rock opera "István, a király" ("István, the King" - referring to St. Stephen/István, the first king of Hungary) is going to be performed in the memorial park on Sunday night. Since the building of the scenery takes up a day, the area of the park will be partly closed until late on the Sunday afternoon. |
